Delete your Spark account
You can delete your Spark account and its data at any time, from inside the app. You do not need to contact us first, and you do not need to ask permission.
Delete from inside the app
- Open Spark and sign in.
- Go to Settings (the gear icon on the Home screen).
- Scroll to the bottom, to the Danger Zone section, and tap Delete Account.
- Read the summary and tap Delete My Account, then confirm once more with Yes, Delete.
Your account is locked right away and you are signed out. Nothing is erased at that moment: the deletion is scheduled, and you have a 30 day window to change your mind (see How long it takes).
If you can no longer sign in, email privacy@mysparks.app from the address on your Spark account and we will delete it for you.
What gets deleted
Once the 30 day window has passed, we remove your profile and identity, your login, and your side of Spark:
- Your profile: name, date of birth, avatar, and the relationship details you entered.
- Your login and authentication records.
- Everything that existed just because the two of you were paired: games and scores, XP and progress, the bucket list and its photos, anniversaries, drawings, private notes, and the "thinking of you" nudges and hearts.
- Your location: Spark only ever stores your latest point, and it goes with the profile.
- Your push notification tokens, so notifications stop reaching your devices.
- Your identifiable analytics events, if you had turned analytics on.
What is kept, and why
If you have a partner, the shared photo memories the two of you made together stay with them: the daily Spark photos, captions, and reactions in your couple gallery. They are their memories too, and deleting your account should not erase theirs. Your name and personal details are removed from them.
If you want those photos gone from your partner's side as well, either some of them or all of them, email privacy@mysparks.app and we will remove them. We honour these requests, and we treat requests about sensitive photos as urgent.
If you have no partner, or you are the last of the two to leave, everything is deleted, shared photos included.
How long it takes
| What | When |
|---|---|
| Your access to the account | Immediately. The account is locked and you are signed out as soon as you confirm. |
| Undo window | 30 days. To undo, simply sign in again: you land on a "Welcome back" screen that shows the scheduled deletion date, and one tap on Restore my account brings everything back. No email needed. |
| Permanent deletion | After the 30 day window the deletion can no longer be undone. Our team then processes it, promptly and in any case within one month of your request, as the GDPR requires. Want it done sooner? Email privacy@mysparks.app. |
| Backups | Age out on a fixed rotation. Data you deleted is put beyond use in any backup that still holds it, and is never restored. |
Deleting some of your data without deleting your account
You do not have to delete your whole account to remove things:
- Inside the app, you can delete individual bucket list items and their photos, private notes, anniversaries, and saved date plans, and you can turn location sharing off entirely (or switch on Ghost Mode) at any time.
- Unpairing from your partner in Settings keeps your account but stops all sharing right away. Everything that existed just because you were together (your shared photos, games, and bucket list) is locked away for 7 days: pair with each other again in that window and it is all restored; otherwise it is automatically and permanently deleted.
- By email, write to privacy@mysparks.app and ask us to delete specific data. This includes your right to erasure under the GDPR, and we answer within one month.
